Calmoseptine Product Review

Ano nga ba ang Calmoseptine?

Ang Calmoseptine ay gawa ng Gordon Labs. Inc. sa USA. Ang nag-import at nag-distribute nito ay ang Calmoseptine Phils Inc. sa Mandaue city.

Isa itong OTC ointment preparation, available in 3.5g sachet.

Indication as cited on  box:

A moisture barrier that prevents and helps heal skin from diaper rash, minor burns, cuts, allergic rashes, insect bites, perspiration, irritation, acne, prickly heat, fistula drainage , hemorrhoids, fungus  infection, eczema, impetigo, incontinence and temporarily relieves discomfort and itching.

Ano kaya ang content?

Calmoseptine contains 164.50 mg calamine and 555.70 mg zinc oxide.

Habang ang calamine ay gamot para sa karaniwang pangangati, ang zinc oxide ay nakakatulong sa pagprotekta at nakapagpapagaling sa mga karaniwang sores o pagbibitak ng balat.

Paraan ng paggamit:

Linisin ang balat at ipahid ng manipis sa apektadong balat dalawang besses hanggang apat na beses sa loob ng isang araw.

• Kung hindi gumaling ang kundisyon sa loob ng pitong araw ay makabubuting kumunsulta sa doktor.

Paglilinaw:

Dahil sa sangkap nitong zinc oxide,  nagsisilbi itong  skin protectant at nakagagaling sa diaper rash, bungang-araw, sa cracked o chapped skin. Nagbibigay ginhawa rin ito sa mga mababaw na paso.

Hindi nakagagamot sa bacterial or fungal infection ang Calmoseptine. Ang content nitong calamine ay lumulunas sa karaniwang kati sa mga kondisyong nabanggit sa indikasyon; katulad ng pangangati sanhi sa kagat ng lamok, sunburn, eczema, pagpapawis.  Pwedeng lunasan ng Calmoseptine ang kating dulot ng fungal infection pero hindi nito magagamot ang tunay na ugat.  Mas makabubuting antifungal topical cream ang gamitin.

Tandaan:

Hindi pwedeng gamitin sa malalalim na sugat ang Calmoseptine. Posibleng magdulot pa rin ito ng allergic reaction dahil sa mga sangkap sa ilang piling tao katulad ng pangangati, pagkahilo, pamamaga ng dila ta mukha. Itigil  ang paggamit sa produkto at pumunta kaagad sa doktor para kumunsulta.

Drugstore: Suspected Criminal

My seminar last Wednesday, June 18, 2014 was about tuberculosis. Not only that it was supposed to educate, the seminar was also a reminder for Pharmacists and store staff about their job. The speaker has cited that there are pharmacies who simply dispense medicines without a prescription or counseling.

Antibiotics are given freely despite of the dangers. Drugstore may not realize it but they can be accountable for numerous deaths. The speaker in the seminar has mentioned that people may think that a friend or family member died because of kidney failure. But, in fact, in can be the fault of pharmacy outlets. This is by simply dispensing a medicine without asking for the prescription.

Mefenamic and naproxen are examples.  These two NSAIDs are often recognized as OTC. However, only the lesser strength of these medicines can be bought without the Rx.  Mefenamic or naproxen when abused can cause kidney damage.

So, when a drugstore personnel simply sells these drugs without a prescription or without any counseling on how and when to use these medicine, the drugstore can indeed be killer and a criminal.
